HW #15 Wikipedia Article
I think that having a DigiLit Wikipedia page is a great idea. It gives the incoming freshmen class a way to learn about DigiLit and know what to expect from the class. I believe the most effective way would be to have each class work on a portion of the article. Then, if you felt you had something to add to a different portion of the article, you could add in your thoughts.

5. While the Sears Tower is arguably the greatest achievement in skyscraper engineering so far, it’s unlikely that architects and engineers have abandoned the quest for the world’s tallest building. The question is: Just how high can a building go? Structural engineer William LeMessurier has designed a skyscraper nearly one-half mile high, twice as tall as the Sears Tower. And architect Robert Sobel claims that existing technology could produce a 500-story building. From Ron Bachman, “Reaching for the Sky.” Dial (May 1990): 15.
Paraphrased: According to Ron Bachman, in his article “Reaching for the Sky.”, the Sears Tower is known as the greatest achievement in skyscraper engineering history, it being the tallest skyscraper made. As architects and engineers are still attempting to create a taller skyscraper, they question, “Just how high can a building go?”. Engineer William LeMessurier is trying to answer this question with his skyscraper he designed, reaching nearly one-half mile, double the Sears Tower. Also attempting to beat this is architect Robert Sobel. He is convinced that with today’s technology, they could make a 500-story building.

The Sears Tower may be one of the greatest skyscrapers built so far. It seems that today architects are loosing interest in building the worlds tallest building. They wonder what is the tallest they could build a skyscraper, an architect has come up with a design to make a half-mile tall skyscraper.

1. Please complete your KWL Tumblr entry from our class on plagiarism, paraphrasing, etc.
2. Brainstorm creative ways the entire freshmen class could most effectively collaborate to create a Digi Lit Wikipedia article. This may mean each class takes a section or maybe you have a better idea!…
